Preheat oven to 400°F
Cook the ground beef: In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain any excess fat.
Season: Add salt, pepper, onion powder and garlic powder. Stir well
Mix in: Stir in tomato sauce and Worcestershire sauce. Mix everything until it’s well combined.
Assemble the casserole: Spread the beef mixture evenly in the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish. I used a 12" cast iron. Top with a generous layer of shredded cheddar cheese / cheese slices.
Top with tater tots: Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer on top of the casserole, covering it completely.
Bake: Place the casserole in the oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden brown and crispy. If you like extra crispy tots, you can turn on the broiler for the last 3-5 minutes of cooking—just keep an eye on them to avoid burning.
Serve and enjoy: Once the casserole is hot and bubbly, remove it from the oven and let it sit for 5 minutes before serving.
