Pizza Bread was a childhood staple of mine. What’s a flavor most of the family can get behind? Pizza. Homemade pizza can take some effort and time, so here is a shortcut to not only use leftover bread, but have a delicious meal on the table in 20 minutes.
Why we love Pizza Bread:
It’s my favorite way to use up sourdough bread that’s a day or two old.
Versatile: Because they’re individual, I can easily customize each piece if my kids want different types
Quick and easy: Dinner is ready in around 20 minutes… or less!
Great way to use up some leftovers.
Ingredients:
Day or two old Sourdough Bread
Pizza Sauce
Desired toppings
Mozzarella Cheese
Pizza Seasonings

Instructions:
1. Preheat the Oven: Start by preheating your oven or air fryer to 375°F
2. Prepare the Bread: Slice the loaf of bread in as thin or thick of slices as you like.
(Optional step) - I like to put the bread in the air fryer by itself for a minute or two to crisp up. This prevents sogginess and creates a firmer ‘crust’
3. Spread the Sauce: Evenly spread the pizza sauce on the cut sides of the bread. You can use as much or as little sauce as you like, depending on your taste.
4. Add Cheese and Seasonings: Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese generously on top of the sauce. For an extra burst of flavor, sprinkle some garlic powder and dried oregano on top of the cheese.
5. Add Toppings (Optional): If you want to get creative, add some pizza toppings like pepperoni, bell peppers, or olives. The possibilities are endless!
6. Bake: Place the pizza bread in the oven or air fryer and bake for about 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the bread is slightly crispy on the edges.
7. Serve and Enjoy: Once the pizza bread is ready, remove it from the oven. You can drizzle a little olive oil over the top for an extra touch of flavor. Slice it up and serve hot!
Tips for Extra Flavor:
Add fresh basil: For a fresh, herby touch, sprinkle some chopped basil on top right before serving.
Use different cheeses: Swap out mozzarella for cheddar, provolone, or any cheese that melts well for a different twist. Havarti slices from Costco has been a recent favorite.
Spicy kick: Add red pepper flakes or a drizzle of hot sauce for a bit of heat.
This easy pizza bread is perfect for a snack, a party appetizer, or even a quick lunch or dinner. Plus, it’s so easy that you can get the kids involved in making it too! Enjoy your pizza bread!
